Four journalists from The Fourth Estate win big at 28th GJA Awards

Four journalists from The Fourth Estate have picked up various awards at the 28th awards ceremony of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
Associate Editor of The Fourth Estate, Seth J. Bokpe, was adjudged the best reporter on Democracy and Good Governance. The award was for his series on the failure of 294 political appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration to declare their assets as required by law and how they only rushed to comply after their names had been published by The Fourth Estate.

This is the third consecutive time Mr. Bokpe has picked up the GJA award for the best reporter in Democracy and Good Governance.

Evans Aziamor-Mensah and Adwoa Adobea-Owusu jointly picked up the award for best report in Education for their story on fraud in the computerised school placement system.

The investigative piece revealed that the GNAT Hall in Accra had been turned into a market where placements into top senior high schools could be bought like commodities. They also reported that top officials linked to the placement system executed their trade through a network of
intermediaries, mostly security guards and cleaners at the GNAT Hall. The story sparked conversations on the need for reform in the school placement system.

Plaques presented to The Fourth Estate journalists who were recognised at the 28th GJA Awards

Another reporter with The Fourth Estate, Philip Teye Agbove won Online News Reporter of the Year with his report on the abandonment of a project to construct public toilet facilities in Ada and Sege.
The overall Best Journalists of the Year award went to Edward Adeti of the Media Without Borders.

Others were Ridwan Karim Dini-Osuman, EIB NETWORK; Timothy Ngnenbe, Daily Graphic; Emmanuel Bruce, Daily Graphic; Godwin Asediba, Media General; David Andoh, Multimedia; Erastus Asare Donkor, Multimedia; Stanley Nii Blewu, Media General, and Jonathan Donkor, Ghanaian Times.

They were Kester Aburam Korankye, Daily Graphic; Beatrice Senadju, GBC; Clara Mlano-GBC; Dr. Neta Chris Abiana Parsram, Multimedia; Solomon Jojo Cobbinah, Multimedia; Fred Duhoe-Channel One TV.

Also, Bill Eshun, Media General, Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, Multimedia; Emmanuel Kwasi Debrah, Multimedia, Edward Acquah, GNA and Clinton Yeboah, Multimedia.

Three media organisations, Daily Graphic, Joy FM, PM Express, and Atinka TV were also recognized for various campaigns to promote good governance.
