Payroll fraud story: Statement by MFWA’s lawyers

On Monday, April 20, 2026, The Fourth Estate, the public interest and accountability project of the Media Foundation for West Africa, published a story based on the latest audit report issued by the Audit Service and duly signed by the Auditor-General. The story generated significant public interest and debate after the Audit Service acknowledged errors in its report.
In light of these developments, A-Partners@Law, the legal representatives of the Media Foundation for West Africa, have issued this statement to clarify the issues and address the matters arising.
