FULL LIST: All the 75 properties contained in Sir John’s will

The will of the former CEO of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has come under intense scrutiny.

It is a long list of 75 properties including houses, parcels of land, bank accounts, investments, businesses, guns and clothes.

Mr Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John,  became the General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2010 to 2014.

His will has raised public concerns following the discovery that he owned lands in the Achimota Forest. This is because president Akufo-Addo recently signed an executive instrument that said part of the Achimota Forest was no longer a forest reserve.

Critics said the move was a ploy to get the land into the hands of the ruling elite, an accusation the government vehemently denies. Sir John’s ownership of parcels of lands in the Achimota Forest appears to heighten the deep-seated mistrust of the government and its actions.

Some have also said owning the lands could amount to a conflict of interest on the part of Sir John who was the CEO of the Forestry Commission from March 2017 until his demise on July 1, 2020.

  1. God will punish kwadwo afriyie sir John even in his death stealing Ghanaians money to have all this alone all this properties will catch fire Ghanaians are suffering but look at what one person is having you will suffer even in ur death

    • This is sad, call to service in Ghana implies the opportunity to amass wealth.
Masses are suffering in this country and all what this poli-trikcians do is loot the country’s resources. You will die and leave this wealth people!
Rather better the system and your name will forever be remembered by prosterity than striving to enrich your families.
All these properties just in the space of time he assumed office, did he really have anything before then?
Really a sad day in Ghana. Kudos fourth estate!

  2. It’s quite amazing sir john acquiring 99% of his properties after been appointed as CEO of forestry commission. Eeeiii Ghana, this is what he used his office in achieving, instead of helping the poor youths of Ghana. I had friends working under forestry commission who were not been paid for months. And he was busy acquiring properties. God will punish you Forever.

  4. Looking at the year some of these properties were acquired, the wise ones will get it. Ghanaians we are in deep trouble.

  5. This is just for the forestry minister. The finance minister’s own will soon drop.
We are so lame in this country that we don’t thoroughly investigate
this ministers and head of states even before they get to power and after they are out of office.

  6. Adwoa Adobea-Owusu thank you. You should know, however, that one could have acquired his / her property through gifts etc by now deceased parents etc.
You should also note that Sir John having been a lawyer could have owned certain properties before 2017.
Publishing these is not of any journalistic standard. One day some unethical journalist would also publish some things about you.
    Regards.

    • It is people like you, who are wrecking the nation. I won’t be surprised if you have nothing to your name. Look at how you are defending Sir John’s nonsense.

  7. Are all these a reality? Hmmmmmm.
If it’s True, then I have a question, WHAT ABOUT THOSE POLITICIANS AND GOVERNMENT APPOINTEES, we don’t know about????????
If it’s true, then POLITICS IS A NATIONAL DRAIN ON OUR FRAGILE ECONOMY.
POLITICS, is TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE MAJORITY by a FEW INDIVIDUALS.

  8. Wickedness ooo. Can you imagine that 95% of this properties were acquired within a space of 3-4 years after they came into power. Ghana is indeed in trouble. I pity my Ga people.

  9. Why should Ghanaians do this to an innocent dead person?
Do u people know what it takes to be Lawyer??
The late Sir John was not just an ordinary lawyer but an astute one
To have acquired these properties over the years shows how hardworking he was.

    • You are very funny! I want you to go back and read all the properties again and read your comment again. What lawyer acquires such properties even if he has served for 20 years or more? Sometimes I wonder how some Africans think, shameful. This man is a thief

  10. Special procecutor must take intereste in this. And all appointees must declare there accets. Mother Ghana in seriously bleeding.

  11. After all this property, pesin don die go, shay na pesin think say na him na oga…… piipole dey colla-pass for honga, piipole dey sit unda tree dey learn, shebi na u get forest power dey cot bushland give sef….na u dey there…..till we meet again Sir John (naaaaa that no go hoppen sake of I dey go different place….na heaven I dey go….for u …u don do all yor njoyment for earth so make u go dey rest for the order side kuuuulermmmmm)

  12. How many of these things has he carry to the grave? Yes, i know you will say, he has willed them to his family but they will also not carry them to the grave. It’s all vanity!!! Amassing wealth at the expense of the citizenry. God is watching!!! GREEDY BASTARDS!!!!!

  13. Whom to be trusted in Ghanaian politicians? Very disappointed in ghana politicians. One by one, God will punish all the greedily once.

  14. Repent or Perish
13 There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? 3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”(Luke 13:1-5)

  15. A Good name is better than riches.

    Matthew 16:26
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

  16. What pity? ?
NPP and their government are scammer’s
Shame on his dead body wherever he is.
God punish all the fraudsters in the government. Wicked politicians
    God hammer you all.
    Nonsensical speculations.

  17. Small problem though. The date on the will is 2/8/21 . Sir John died 1/7/20. How does a dead man make a will? I may be legally illiterate. Can I get an explanation?

  18. Greed to its zenith. Even market stalls which can help to poor to survive are being grabbed by politicians. God have mercy. What exactly do they need in this world?

  19. All these for one person, what at all is happening here in Ghana? The politicians are only aiming at feeling their pockets without thinking about the poor and powerless tax payer.

  20. If Sir John is dead and cannot respond to this issue, is Charles Owusu, with whom sir John owned some parcels in the forest not still alive? Why hasn’t he been picked? Why is no one talking about him?

Those companies that own the lands with Sir John are still operating. Not so? What is being done about them?

  21. This is simply mind boggling. My question is how did he even keep track of all these properties, and what exactly was he doing with them? Greed must be a type of sickness, maybe mental illness. With all these he couldn’t prevent himself from dying?
